JoMa Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization formed to increase awareness of breast cancer for African American and other minority women. We hope to serve as an equalizer that will make a difference by spreading the word and raising awareness of breast cancer in African American and other minority Communities.
We intend to accomplish this by offering free, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening, where not available. A percentage of our funding supports our mission to help with the research of breast cancer as a life threatening disease. All our services are in efforts to increase the odds for survival by early detection and one day find a cure for this deadly disease.
Our signature ribbon, designed by Joan M. Gibson, is in loving memory of her sister-in-law Fay Earle. After a ten-year battle Fay succumbed to breast cancer in May 1995.
